Language Arts

Our reading instruction aims to help students develop skills in phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency.  Here are some activities students can do at home to improve their reading skills:
     -  Highlight the common spelling patterns in weekly spelling words
     -  Read and discuss a book as a family
     -  Read poetry and reread texts aloud to improve fluency

Classroom reading news:

Our current unit of study is "Communities"  Students will read and discuss stories about how lands, sites, and buildings change over a limited or long-term period.  Please note that our spring reading goal is for students to read 123 words per minute.  Please check you child's current reading rate, and practice reading aloud daily as needed.  I would be happy to provide resources upon request!
