Recently,  Mrs. Berger visited our class to talk about personal space. During her Guidance lesson, she used hula hoops to demonstrate this concept.  The students had a great time.  Thanks, Mrs. Berger!

Here's a look at an activity students completed to define this week's vocabulary words.  After reading a short story featuring the vocabulary words, students used clues from the text, background knowledge, and other word-identification skills to match definitions.  Everyone did a great job!

Yesterday was another exciting day for our class; We had another visit from a Parks Department Ranger.  Miss Lauren played a game which taught students about the lifecycles of carnivores, herbivores, omnivores, and plants.  She also talked about the importance of soil, and identified the characteristics of several local trees.  Students used these characteristics to identify maple, oak, and beech leaves and complete leaf rubbings.

Miss Fremeau's junior scientists have been hard at work this week!  In the classroom, we planted plants for our Science unit on "Plant Growth and Development."  We're hoping to see some growth by Open House!  Also, we had a visit from Miss Claire, who works at Bear Brook State Park.  We observed different animal artifacts and deduced from which New Hampshire animal they came.  The students had a lot of fun!

Miss Fremeau's class is off to a great start in third grade!  Students have been working hard as we begin diving into Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science.  Students have also put forth great effort with our beginning of the year testing.  This gives so much information about students' current abilities and will help me plan for a fun and productive year.  Good job class!

Just a few friendly reminders as we continue our Super September:

-  Remember to wear/bring sneakers every Wednesday.
-  Remember to bring library books to school on Mondays (we have
   book exchange every other week).
-  Homework is due the next school day unless otherwise stated.
Students should be filling out assignment books on a daily basis.  If
there are questions about homework, please contact Miss Fremeau.
