What an exciting way to celebrate Columbus Day!  Everyone in Miss Fremeau's class worked hard all week to practice their Christopher Columbus poems.  We performed today for special guest judges, Mrs. Kelly and Mr. Gillen.  It was a VERY tough decision, but in the end the best performance was Jack, Noah, Bryce, and Nate's reading of "A New World," by Alice Crowell Hoffman.  Great job boys!

All third grade students recently took a trip back in time to the 1840's!  We visited the local Head School and also spent time learning traditional "nooning" activities of the past.  Our class especially enjoyed learning about the traditional punishments for students of colonial times...

Yes...it's true - we made bee sticks!  Students are learning how bees are helpful pollinators.  We are pollinating our brassica plants on a regular basis, and watching and waiting for seed pods to develop! What a brave bunch of scientists we are!

Our current math chapter encourages students to practice their mental math strategies for addition and subtraction.  Here are some picture of students working together to practice mental math, while their partners check for accuracy using pencil-and-paper strategies.

'School Store' is up and running at HMS!  Thanks to our parent volunteers, students may visit our school store on Thursdays during recess.  Here, students can purchase a variety of school supplies and other small items.  We ask that students bring no more that $2.  Happy shopping!
